Reserve Materials

> Library Materials Request Form <

Teachers are encouraged to put required textbooks or other materials on Reserve for their students. It is customary to email the Library Director a copy of your syllabus as soon as it is available. Please let us know as early as possible any required textbooks, so we have the opportunity to purchase any titles not currently owned. We also accept instructor-owned materials for temporary Reserve.
Reserve materials are typically checked out by students for two hours in-library use.

Instructional Services

> Library Lecture Request Form <

Integrating library research with the curriculum is vital to student success. Please contact the library at least one week in advance by email (see the form above) to arrange for a class visit.
The most effective library instruction is coordinated with a class assignment. Students who learn to use the library's resources effectively write better papers, produce better projects, and become better consumers of information. We offer specialized library instruction sessions tailored to the needs of the specific class or subject. Here are just a few of the many instruction sessions we offer:

  • Student Success
  • A physical tour of the library designed to make students aware of the wide array of resources available to them as well as introducing them to the helpful staff.

  • College English
  • Introduces students to research techniques using the library's online catalog and article databases. May include finding an essay topic, selecting keywords for searching databases, broadening or narrowing searches, citing sources.

  • Introduction to Fashion
  • Targets fashion resources depending on the instructor's focus. Topics may include books on costume history and art resources for historical reference, primary vs. secondary sources, popular fashion magazines vs. trade journals, forecasting/predictive resources, and more.
