[The Art Institute] provides students with a variety of electronic resources, including an electronic mail address and the opportunity to create their own web pages. The primary purpose of providing such resources is to support The Art Institute and its educational goals; other uses are secondary. By using the electronic resources provided by The Art Institute, you accept personal responsibility for their appropriate use and you agree to comply with this policy, all other applicable The Art Institute policies, and all applicable laws. The Art Institute reserves the right to change its policies, including this policy.
The electronic mail system provided to students by The Art Institute and all communications and information sent, received or stored on that system are and remain the property of The Art Institute. They are not the private property of students, and you should not have any expectation of privacy or confidentiality with respect to messages sent, received, or stored on The Art Institute's systems.
Failure to comply with the following rules for acceptable use of electronic resources is a violation of this policy and may subject you to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from The Art Institute. The Art Institute reserves the right to suspend your access to electronic resources immediately for violations of this policy or for any other reason deemed necessary by The Art Institute. Remember that access to these resources is a privilege, not an entitlement.
The Art Institute also reserves the right to access and monitor all use and contents of its electronic resources at any time, in its sole discretion and without further notice to users. Therefore, you should not communicate or store personal or private information on any system of The Art Institute.
You may not use The Art Institute's electronic resources for unlawful activities, for personal monetary gain, or for business or commercial purposes. Although it is not practical to list all types of prohibited activities, the following activities are specifically prohibited. Individual departments may impose additional prohibitions or restrictions as deemed appropriate by department management.
The Art Institute does not guarantee the privacy or security of e-mail or users' files or the anonymity of any user. You are responsible for the use of your accounts and must take reasonable precautions, including password maintenance and file protections, to prevent unauthorized use of your accounts. You may not use, access, alter or copy the accounts, passwords, directories, files, programs, or the intellectual property of any other user without that person's written consent.
